Danger on the Farm

So the little squirt wanted to be shown around the farm yeah? Guess that wasn't TOO much trouble. Cassandra did leave a large list of chores do be done and maybe the kid could be of some help. There was already six Tokotas waiting outside for the two to show. Christ, Ost, and Little Red who were going to be helping Ryan out while Zaiyaah Stove and Gandalf  were there helping little Ryan out. It was to simply make sure everything went alright and there were no issues.

"Alright Ryan... you wanna learn how to clean tack? Or should we check the paddocks for any breaks first?" Ryan was well... rather amused. Funny how good old Leroy's first born was named identically to the man who... umm... had relations with him as well. Course Ryan couldn't be telling the kid that. Adult stuff was way out of his league! Still, Ryan was happy to help out Ryan in whatever he needed to learn. "So you can ride and such right kid? Well, let's see how good you are gathering up the Tokotas. How about it? Care to try your hand a that as well? First things first. We check the paddocks and then we clean the tack. Wouldn't want Christ to get saddle sore and be even grumpier. We also wouldn't want Ost having burrs in her mane or Little Red to have something stuck in her paw. Plus, I'm sure your dad and mom taught you how to look after Stove, Zaiyaah and Grandalf right? After feeding all those Tokotas out in the paddocks we then feed ourselves before gathering everyone for their nightly checks. Don't want to send anyone to sleep with a sore paw or a splinter right? Maybe we can practice with your group first to make sure you know what to do."
Once Ryan filled in the young handler with what they'd be doing he began showing small Ryan around.

"That's my herd there. Mostly half manes and short manes. Cassandra's is the biggest pack with Rain's in the small paddocks over there. Then you got that group which... honestly, Cass says they below to a friend of hers but never met them." Ryan shrugged as he walked over to Ost and gave the long mane female a pat upon her head. Christ seemed unfriendly as always as he ignored Stove and Zaiyaah while Little Red seemed happy to bounce around Grandalf's paws as she tried making him her new friend. Now, they all had their jobs to do... it was just getting them all done before the sun went down.

Ryann let out one huge sigh. Aunt Cassie was actually pretty cool, but this guys was so BORING. Good Aippaq Ryann hoped he did not turn out to be this much of a talker when he was older. Ryann basically leaned back and zoned out a bit as he let his eyes roam over the barn. It was not nearly as fancy as his father's nor was it as clean his his mother's. Ugh, why he couldn't be out again with Aunt Cass, this other Ryan was not going to be any fun.

"Yeah yeah, of course I know how to clean tack, that's pretty much all I do at home."
Huffing and stalking off towards the fenced paddock he began checking for any breaks in the fencing or over aging of the slats. This was not his idea of a fun baby sitter.

Gandalf lifted his paw gently and kind of patted Little Red on the head, he smiled down at her before getting up and stretching forward on his haunches. While he was a lilac barbary like Christ, Gandalf was by far a much nicer specimen. He really did enjoy the attention from any Tokota who was being friendly.
Zaiyaah was going to be sticking next to Ryann his whole time here, this was his first time on a strange packs territory, and while Zaiyaah knew most of these Tokotas here, her instinct to protect a young one was very strong. Zaiyaah gave Ost a friendly smile as she passed by. Quickly left Stove sat for a momenet and look a bit bemused as Stove then turned to grin over at Gandalf and Little Red.

Good thing Ryan couldn't read minds or he'd boop the kid over the head for being so disrespectful! Huh... kinda like he was at Ryann's age. "Hey kid. Listen closely. Make sure to not get too close to the south side fence. Clever doesn't like little boys wandering into her territory." Course who knew if Ryann was even listening at this point. At least he had Zaiyaah looking after him while Stove was busy with watching Gandalf playing with Little Red. <They seem to be having fun.> Ost sat down next to the male as she nudged him gently in the shoulder. <How do you like it here? It's not my original home... but is my new home. I like it fairly well.> Behind them another gave a slight grunt of irritation as Ost glanced over to see Christ eying her. <It isn't my home... no matter what is said, done or given to me.> Boy Christ was just a big old pain in the ass wasn't he? Good thing Little Red hadn't heard that or it might have hurt her feelings. She believed she was starting to become Christ's friend. thankfully Gandalf was keeping her distracted.

With Ryan walking off toward the barn it seemed Zaiyaah was left to watch the little boy who was poking through the worn fence for any loose boards. Of course, he didn't seem to heed Ryan's warning and before reaching the edge of the fence line Ryann would meet a not so friendly Tokota. Snarling like a beast Clever Girl came running up and snapped at the young boy's face. the commotion had Ost getting to her paws as she ran over while Christ stuck back and merely watched. Little Red had heard the noise as well and turning around let out a soft gasp. <Oh dear... Clever isn't going to be very nice today.>

It was true Ryann had stopped listening to the older named version of himself, but really Ryann was used to all his father and mother's Tokotas being relatively well behaved. Even some of the incredibly aggressive ladies knew far better then to even dare go after the boy.
As Clever shot over and tried to bite at Ryann's face Zaiyaah jumped into action. Catching the back of his shirt in her teeth Zaiyaah gave him a quick pull, just in time to avoid the nashing teeth of the angry Clever. Zaiyaah, in quick return, let out the angriest snarl Ryann had ever heard from the shortie.

It was so nasty it pulled the attention of both Gandalf and Stove away from Ost and Little Red. They did not need to have their attention pulled away from Christ because, well, at this point both males had really just decided to ignore the sour Barbary. Jumping up they ran a short distance before skidding to a stop just behind Zaiyaah. The lady shortie was body blocking and had aimed a nasty bite at Clever's exposed muzzle.

Even with the sphinx snapping right in her face the greying brown female continued to growl right back. <GET OUT!> A irritated hiss escaped her maw before a loud whistle caught the attention of well, everyone! "HEYA! GET AWAY FROM THERE!" Waving his arms Ryan ran toward the group as Clever suddenly pulled away and started back toward the small band of half manes she had been with before. "Fucking hell man! Don't you know how to listen?! I told you not to go there!" Coming up to the small group of Tokotas the redhead glanced toward Clever Girl before back to the rest. "Clever doesn't like people and if you get to close she'll take your hand off. Gods... are you hurt?" With Ryan there it seemed things had calmed down, but Ost still kept an eye on the half mane who was known to have a horrible temper. Nearby it seemed Christ was amused by the show while Little Red hide underneath Stove's legs. Why was that female so horrible? She had no reason to be! "Thank goodness you had Zaiyaah here..." Ryan released a sigh as he offered Ryann a hand while his gaze glanced toward Gandalf, Stove and Ost. "Maybe we should stay on Cassandra's side of the paddock alright? Her Tokotas are all pretty friendly, well... minus mister grumpypants." Ryan thumbed toward Christ who let out a grumble at the statement.

Thankfully things got back to normal. Little Red even managed to give Ryann a few licks to hope he was alright. <Zaiyaah you are so brave! You saved the little human from Clever. How did you get so brave?>

Ryan was a bit shell shocked, leaning back on both hands his eyes were wide and took the licks of Little Red to fully bring his attention around. Shaking for a sec Ryann then reached up and rubbed his finger across his nose, sniffing at the same time. He was not crying, but it had rattled him for sure. Looking up at big Ryan Ryann then frowned, and pushed his hand away, jumping up on his own.

"You don't think you coulda told me that in the FIRST place?! Imporn't stuff is what you say first, not at the end of your dull speach!"
Turning around and giving Little Red a quick hug, his face pressing into her floofy chest, it was only for a moment before he took off. Bolting back towards the barn and down the path he ran along the side, leaving Stove and Zaiyaah behind. Gandalf had been about to follow but the smirk on Christ's face was so smug Gandalf stopped for just a moment to give him a disapproving look. But by the time Gandalf looked back up Ryann was gone from sight, only Ost and Christ were immediately near by with everyone else still back near the fence.

Uggg kids. This is why Ryan never wanted them! They were to loud, annoying and well, stupid. If the kid had listened to him instead of dreaming of whatever the hell he had been this wouldn't have happened! "Maybe you should listen to me instead of ignoring me! You want to be a Tokota handler? Well you gotta buck up and listen once in a while!" Course that didn't help things as Ryann suddenly turned around and ran off which left the group standing there. "God..." Letting out a sigh Ryan turned to see Zaiyaah and Stove standing there staring at him. Nearby both Christ and Ost had began moving toward the paddock while Gandalf seemed to follow them. All but Little Red who had started trotting after Ryann. "Leroy's going to kill me if his kid gets hurt." Another sigh escaped the handler as he motioned for Zaiyaah and Stove to follow him. "Ost make sure Christ and Gandalf behave."

Finding Ryann wasn't too hard. Little Red managed to track him down behind one of the barns. He seemed rather upset and Ryan wasn't too sure what to do. "Zaiyaah... Stove?" He glanced toward the two before deciding it was best he talked to the kid. "Look... I'm sorry okay?" Slowly moving over to Ryann the redhead sat down a foot or so away from the other while Little Red happily nuzzled her way against the little boy's side. Good thing Christ wasn't here or she'd get a eyeroll for sure. "I know how hard it is to want to be just like your dad. I never had a dad growing up and well, life was hard. I lived on the streets so I had to learn things fast or die. I shouldn't have waited till the last second to tell you about Clever. That was my fault."

With Ryan talking to the kid Christ had trotted off toward his paddock while Ost stayed with Gandalf near the barn. <Sorry about him... he can be kind when he wants to be. It's just hard when you've lived your life with one person and then they suddenly trade you away."

Ryann reached over as Little Red and wrapped his arms around her neck, rubbing his face into her neck fur and letting a small sigh. It took him a moment to vocal down and pull his face back out before he looked up at big Ryan and Zaiyaah and Stove, who were sitting just behind him.

"Sorry... it's okay. I just thought that you'd be, ya know, cool or something. I do this stuff with my dad all the time and it gets pretty boring hearing the exact same stuff from someone else." Ryann hugged Little Red again just a bit more, she was really soft.

Around the other side of the barn Gandalf gave a wee shrug as he and Ost watched Christ trot off on his own.
<Can't really blame him for being that way, I know I'd feel distraught if my owner traded me away. Especially after all the work I've done for them and with them.> Gandalf glanced briefly away from Christ to look at Ost, <Probably feels like he can't trust anyone.>
