Impending Bear

Grinning from ear to ear Keeper could not help but puff his chest out. Syn was back, this was the first time in a long long while since she had taken him out, actually ridden on his back and attention him. Her lovely ginger boy was going to show her his improvement and all that he'd accomplished while she was gone. He was almost Alpha after all and was keen to finish all hos trials with ease.

Then again so was Teern. And while Teern did not make as big a deal about it Keeper knew that Teern was eager to get there before Keeper, which was not going to happen.

Today they were on the trial of a bear that had been causing havoc in a nearby town. The TCA had given permission for it's hunt and a reward the sooner it was brought down. A bunch of teams were on the look out for it, and while Leroy was too busy with his pride and joy black dire litter that had just arrived, Syn on the other hand was completely free. It had taken very little convincing for Cassie to get her to come along. Along side Keeper and teern were 4 other Tokos.
Count Gregor and Dawn were two massive dires that were quite young in comparison. Then of course Yamaha, who was getting quite uppity with Ryan the poor boy just needed a break and lastly a rather new face. Little Elessi a black toki who was getting close to passing her dominant trials. Elessi was going to be helping with the tracking today, but because of the size of the bear they were tracking Elessi would be watching for the actual take down part.

It was nice to have time to herself. No chores, no feedings or watching naughty little puppies who knew better than to try and sneak out from under the paddock fences. Really, Cass felt like a outing was a good change of pace for everyone. Today she had decided to take two newcomers to hunt along with one of Ryan's half mane.Yamaha was always ready for a hunt. The scared up boy seemed eager as he trotted ahead of the others. Sitting atop Hope Cass watched as one of her newest Dires attempted to take the lead only to be snapped at by the half mane. Gregor was one of Paradise's sons and seemed to try to be tougher than he appeared. While his cropped ears and stubby tail did make him seem a bit more intimidating he was nothing more than a giant puppy.

Turning around the bend it was easy to stop Syn's bright red hair along with the coats of the Tokotas she brought. Keeper could usually be seen around her property, but the male had gone with Syn for this outing along with Teern and a little black Toki Cass had never seen before. "Syn!" Cass waved her hand as she pulled Hope up beside the other and leaned over to give her friend a hug. "Good to see you. Keeper looks good. Did you brush him?" As the girls talked it seemed to fall on Yamaha to inspect the newcomers. Walking up to Teern the half mane huffed as his gaze narrowed. <Best stay behind me and out of my way pup. Got it?> Ohh he was still as irritable as ever! A few feet away Gregor watched before his attention turned toward Elessi and he gave her a curious sniff.

Syn and Keeper trotted over, Keeper with his chest puffed out a bit grinned from ear to ear as he gave his mane a shake.
"I did! He sat perfectly still for me the entire time." Leaning forward Syn pressed her face into his curly fluffy mane. Giggling a bit Syn gave him a hug before leaning and smiling up at Cassie. "Do you think Hope will be ready for this bear today?" Hope was huge but she was quite gentle.

Teern did growl at Yamaha, not one to enjoy being treated like a useless thing Teern's lip curled back to expose his long canine teeth, <Better watch it old man or you'll find yourself being left in the snow. You're the one who is going to have to stay out of MY way if you don't want to be embarrassed.> Teern was definitely not going to be pushed around by some old fart that was for sure.

Elessi's ears pinned back against her head as Gregor came to give her a sniff. Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh this dire was huge.
Swallows Elsessi looked up at him with a small smile, <Can I help you?>

Cass couldn't help but laugh. Brushing out the curly was... difficult. Even Hoto had a bad habit of trying to run off while Cass was trying to brush them both. Still, she was glad Syn had some extra time to spend with her pack while she was here. "Hope's always ready! I brought Gregor too so he can learn and watch." The young woman motioned toward the grey colored Dire who was busy sniffing at Elsessi. "He's one of Paradise's pups. Not much for swimming, but he is a good hunter. Took care of the groundhog problem I had!...and kinda dug up half the paddock." Yeah, that wasn't fun to fix, but Cassandra didn't mind. As long as Gregor had the drive to hunt then she'd nurture that. Plus, Hope always wanted more hunting buddies her size. "I'm sure Keeper will enjoy teaching Gregor how to hunt as well."

At Teern's threat the half mane made a face that meant he was not amused. Old man? HAHA. This kid had nothing on him. <Older I may be, but I have a lot more experience then you do little pup.> A snap of his teeth meant Yamaha was meaning business as his ears tucked behind his head. <You don't get scars like mine over nothin. You best keep that mouth shut before you learn how you get the same type of scars I do.>  Another growl echoed from the half mane as his fur began standing on end. He wasn't about to back down because of this little punk!

Gregor's interest in Elsessi seemed to last a few moments before he pulled away and let out a loud sneeze. <Nope. Nothing to help me with.> With a flick of his short tail the Dire returned to Hope's side as he began nosing about Syn's hair. Keeper's eying look didn't seem to bother the male Dire as he continued to sniff. She looked a lot like Ryan, except with woman smells and parts. How very odd.

Syn couldn't help but laugh at poor Cassie's plight with the entire ground of her paddock. Of course hindsight made everything funny, well almost always.
"I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll be around for a while so I can help you fix things up if you need an extra hand." Grinning she leaned forward and patted Keeper then looked back up against at Cassie, "I'm sure he will, when we get close I'll be letting him loose. This will be great to see him let loose!"
Keeper looked up at Gregor and smiled a bit weakly, <Well I haven't hunted in a while, so I might be a touch rusty. Eheheh....>

Elessi's nose wrinkled back a bit as Gregor sneezes and she tried not to frown, not wanting to come across as rude. But her attitude did not last for more then a moment because Elessi found him sniffing Syn's hair absolutely funny.

Teern merely swished his tail and started walking away from Yamaha, not wishing to waste his energy before they even caught sight of the bear,
<Well, I do not need scars to prove just how good I am. Let's just see how well we do once we find the bear.> And with that he joined Syn, Cassie, Keeper, Hope, Elessi and Gregor who were heading off on the lead they had received.

That was good. Least, Gregor assumed it was good. He wouldn't feel like a fool in front of the rest when they started their hunting trip. Leaning over Syn's much smaller form he seemed to nose her for another second or two before lifting his head back and letting out a very loud sneeze. <AHHA!CHUK!> Gregor let out an odd noise which had Cass turning to eye him and Syn. "Gregor stop being a butt. I don't think Syn likes Tokota snot all in her hair." Giving a shake of his head the Dire began moving off toward Teern who seemed to have taken the lead. Keeper would probably take over soon enough once he saw the others moving. As for Yamaha, well, the older Tokota grumbled to himself as he followed after the others. Little idiotic pups! He was going to show them who was still top of their game!

Behind them Hope followed with Cassandra still on her back. Little Elessi seemed to be following as well. "Heya Syn. Wanna ride with me and Hope or... you going to change?" It was really a surprise when Syn was around. Sometimes she'd keep her human form while other times she went full on furry. It didn't seem to be all shifters though. Leroy and Xavier seemed to lean more toward their humanoid forms when they were out with their Tokotas. Still, Cass always found Syn's other form oddly beautiful and she liked seeing her change.

Syn did make a bit of a sour face as Gregor sneezed, icky that was not going to be fun to wash out later. Buuuut she knew he was a pup and was not going to make a fuss over such a little thing.
"Oh it's all good Cassie~! He didn't mean anything by it, and once we get closer I'll be popping off." Giving a quick wave she did lean back as Keeper rushed past Teern, keen to find the scent of the bear first and show that he was still young enough to take on a massive animal. Flailing a moment Syn regined her balance, and off they went!
Elessi stuck close behind Hope and Yamaha, not wanting to get too caught up at the front just in case the bear popped out of no where.

The tip that they'd been given lead them just twenty minutes outside of town before Keeper ahad picked up on the scent of this dangerous bear. Hackles immediately raised Syn slid off his back, and before she had touched the ground landed on four dainty paws. Twin tails Held tight to her rear she moved in close to Hope watching as Teern, Gregor and Yamaha joined Keeper at the lead. Poor Elessi shivered as she stayed tucked behind Hope as close as possible.

Syn seemed to have it together which made Cassandra giggle softly as the team of Tokotas headed deeper into the forest. Seemed everyone was up for a good old chase with a big burly bear. "Careful Hope. Keep steady." Placing a hand on the Dire's neck the youth turned toward the others who were busy tracking the scent of the animal they were hunting. Keeper had pushed ahead with Teern right behind him, but that didn't mean Yamaha was going to get left behind. Without warning the half mane shouldered Teern hard before he trotted up beside Keeper. <Find anything Keep? Don't wanna give Hoto the chance to steal your spot in the pack. This will be easy enough with just the two of us!> Having spent a lot of time talking to Syn's Tokotas over the paddock fence the half mane had gotten to know them. The others? Not so much. Teern was definitely not on his favorites list right now.

Just a little ways behind Gregor, Hope and Elessi kept pace with Syn who had turned into her two tailed canine form. She seemed eager for the hunt as well which prompted Cass to slide off Hope's back and place a hand on the red coated beauty. "Hey Syn. Let's see if the boys can track this thing down." Cass motioned toward the three dominate males who were busy tracking the bear's scent. Gregor was just a little more timid then the other males and was happy enough sitting back with the females for this. He needed more practice before taking on a whole bear by himself!
